There is not currently a dedicated fuel poverty scheme on offer in Barking and Dagenham, however the council provides a number of services that can help residents who are experiencing difficulties or who are at risk because of fuel poverty. These services include emergency heating provision, income maximisation and benefit checks. Telecare assistance is available to those who are aged 18 years and over, and fulfill certain criteria. Further details of some of these services can be found below.

Telecare
Those eligible for a free Telecare assistance include those who are 18 years and over and have the following conditions:
- Ill health
- Site or hearing loss
- Physical or learning disability
- Are in the early stages of dementia
- High risk of falling
- Are just out of hospital
