Redbridge are not currently operating a dedicated fuel poverty scheme, but there are services in the borough that may be useful for those experiencing difficulties as a result of fuel poverty. The Redbridge Energy Management Team can help with energy efficiency advice, and the Housing Advice Centre can help with housing advice, including benefit issues. Home repair grants are available from the council, and a handyperson scheme is in operation. A grant from the council, aimed at providing safe, warm and decent accommodation for older, vulnerable or disabled homeowners who are at serious risk of harm due to the condition of their property.

Redbridge Handyperson Scheme
Run by the Home Energy Efficiency Training (HEET project) and available to those:
- Aged 60 years or over; or
- disabled or have a long term serious illness or health problem which makes it difficult to carry out the work; or
- awaiting discharge from hospital
The handyperson scheme can help with a range of small tasks, including:
- changing light bulbs
- locks and security chains
- fitting key safes
- fitting draught excluders
- unblocking a sink
- changing tap washers
- fitting grab/handrails
- putting up curtain rail
- replacing broken toilet seats
- replacing small areas of bathroom / kitchen tiles
- fitting door bells
- renewing bath sealants
- repairing small areas of fencing
Each visit is for a maximum of two hours, and residents are limited to a maximum of one visit every three months.
There is a small cost for this service, with reduced rates for residents in receipt of an income related benefit.

No heating or hot water is considered an emergency. Repairs are normally attended to within two hours and completed within 24 hours.
If an individual receives housing benefit, income support, council tax benefit or pension credit,
Redbridge Adult Social Services will provide the monitoring service free of charge.
Anyone not receiving these benefits will need to pay a small weekly cost.
